WVEE/Atlanta Mourns The Loss Of Longtime Host Wanda Smith
ATLANTA radio veteran/Comedian WANDA SMITH died on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12th, a day after her 58th birthday. SMITH was known for her 20-year career at AUDACY Urban WVEE (V-103)/ATLANTA, co-hosting with FRANK SKI from 1997 to 2012. She later teamed with RYAN CAMERON, and then reunited with SKI from 2018 until early 2019.
AUDACY/ATLANTA SVP/Market Mgr. RICK CAFFEY posted on INSTAGRAM, “Our hearts are weighing heavier today as we grieve the loss of our beloved WANDA SMITH, someone who always made us smile and who was a big part of V-103 for years. We extend our deepest prayers and condolences to her family.”
“In her role at V-103, dating back to 1997, WANDA SMITH brought so much joy and care in serving the ATLANTA community. WANDA’s impact touched lives beyond making us laugh. She often championed efforts behind the scenes to make a difference in the lives of those in need.”
SMITH was a “DEF COMEDY JAM” and BET’s “COMICVIEW,” writer, and was known for her weekly sets at the ATLANTA COMEDY THEATER in NORCROSS (Greater ATLANTA). She founded GIRLS STAND TOGETHER, Inc. and appeared in several films, including MADEA GOES TO JAIL, MADEA’S WITNESS PROTECTION, and THE DRONE THAT SAVED CHRISTMAS.
SMITH is survived by her husband, LAMORRIS SELLERS, and their three children.
