WPPZ (Classix 107.9)/Philadelphia Lands Shaila Scott For Middays
URBAN ONE/RADIO ONE R&B Oldies WPPZ (CLASSIX 107.9)/PHILADELPHIA has hired SHAILA SCOTT (AMILEE CATTOUSE) for middays. The slot was formerly held by PD/midday JAY DIXON who exited in FALL 2023. Most recently, she handled weekends/part-time for AUDACY Classic Hip-Hop WXBK (94.7 THE BLOCK)/NEW YORK.
Dir/Operations & Programming DIVINE MARTINO said, “When it comes to longevity, success, and radio greatness, one of the names that cannot be left out of the conversation is SHAILA SCOTT. We are excited to work with her and have her join the RADIO ONE PHILADELPHIA team.”
“CLASSIX 107.9 has consistently reigned as the ‘Sound of PHILADELPHIA,’ and adding SHAILA’s expertise, professionalism, and energy will take us to the next level. We are excited to introduce Middays with SHAILA.”
SCOTT added, “Joining URBAN ONE is a dream come true! I’m excited to blend my love for music with the rich culture of PHILLY and connect with the community on such an iconic platform. The opportunity to be a voice in the CITY OF BROTHERLY LOVE is quite an honor!”
VP/GM EZIO TORRES commented “We are so excited to have SHAILA SCOTT join the CLASSIX PHILLY Team! I know so many of her previous coworkers from WRKS and WBLS and have admired her from a few steps removed. SHAILA brings the voice, knowledge, and professionalism that is becoming rarer in our industry and will complement the music and enhance the sound of CLASSIX 107.9!”
SCOTT still has a lawsuit pending against her former employers EMMIS CORP. and Holding Co. MEDIACO for alleged age & sex discrimination and violations of equal pay laws. She exited the company when her contract was not renewed in 2022. MEIDACO bought NEW YORK’s R&B WBLS (107.5) and Top 40 Rhythmic WQHT (HOT 97) from EMMIS three years ago. Last FALL (2023), both companies tried to get a federal court in NEW YORK to dismiss the case.
Her career resume includes positions at WBLK/BUFFALO, WBLS/NEW YORK (1988-1994), WRKS (KISS-FM)/NEW YORK (1994-2012), and WBLS (2012-2022). WBLS and WRKS merged in APRIL 2012 (Click Here).
