HOWARD UNIVERSITY R&B WHUR (96.3)/WASHINGTON DC PM drive personality FRANK SKI and QUIET STORM host JOHN MONDS have exited apparently due to budget cuts.

PD AL PAYNE told SAM WEAVER, “FRANK SKI is an incredible talent and human being. He will forever be family, and I will always use my voice to advocate on his behalf. JOHN MONDS is a legend who has already cemented his legacy in our building. For now, WHUR will serve the DMV with our signature music and focus on all things local life, culture, and sounding like WASHINGTON.”

In addition to his WHUR show, for a time, SKI was handling daily double duty by also doing mornings at COX MEDIA R&B WALR (KISS 104.1)/ATLANTA. However, the station did not renew his contract this past JANUARY. His career highlights include m WVEE/ATLANTA (mornings), WXYV/BALTIMORE, and WERQ (92Q)/BALTIMORE.

MONDS had hosted WHUR’s ORIGINAL QUIET STORM since 2020. In the early 2000s, he did mornings for the station. Prior to returning to WHUR for the second time, he worked for 10 years at RADIO ONE R&B WMMJ (MAJIC 102.3-92.7)/WASHINGTON DC, hosting “LOVE AND R&B.”

MONDS’ resume includes KMJQ (MAJIC 102)/HOUSTON, WUSL MD/afternoons (POWER 99)/PHILADELPHIA, WQHT/NEW YORK, WBSB (B104)/BALTIMORE, WVAZ/CHICAGO, KRBV/LOS ANGELES, and KKBT/LOS ANGELES.
