Urban One Appoints Claudia De Leon VP/GM For Cleveland & Head Of Spanish Broadcast Operations
URBAN ONE has named CLAUDIA DE LEON RADIO ONE/CLEVELAND VP/GM and Head of SPANISH Broadcast Operations. The appointment aligns with URBAN ONE’s new Local Management Agreement (LMA) with LA MEGA MEDIA and LAZO MEDIA. This also expands its Spanish-language programming in OHIO and extending it into INDIANAPOLIS.
Most recently she was LA MEGA MEDIA COO, and her resume includes VP of TSJ MEDIA from 2010-2019.
URBAN ONE will operate under the “LA MEGA” brand in CLEVELAND, COLUMBUS, CINCINNATI, and INDIANAPOLIS. As part of the rebranding, existing stations previously under the “LA GRANDE” brand in COLUMBUS and INDIANAPOLIS will transition to “LA MEGA.” The move brings LA MEGA from streaming to WJMO-AM 1300 WJMO-AM/CLEVELAND, while also operating COLUMBUS WWLG (107.1) & WWLA (103.1,) CINCINNATI WIZF-HD2 (101.5,) and INDIANAPOLIS WHHH-HD2 (105.1.)
Outgoing CLEVELAND VP/GM EDDIE HARRELL Jr., now Co-Pres. of URBAN ONE’s Audio Division, said, “We are thrilled to align with such a well-established brand in OHIO, one with a legacy of dedicated service to Hispanic communities in CLEVELAND, COLUMBUS, and CINCINNATI.”
“Equally exciting is the addition of CLAUDIA DE LEON, a seasoned executive who brings a wealth of experience and talent to our team. Adding LA MEGA to our portfolio further strengthens our business footprint and enhances our offerings to reach minority communities across these key markets.”
RADIO ONE Division CEO DAVID KANTOR added, “This rebranding marks a significant enhancement to our Spanish-language media presence in OHIO and INDIANAPOLIS, aligning with the needs of our audiences and meeting the growing demand in these rapidly expanding Hispanic communities. “
“Our goal is to deliver high-quality, culturally relevant programming that reflects the vibrant and diverse lives of our listeners. Through this arrangement, we can better serve Hispanic audiences in each market, connecting communities with music, news, and content that speaks directly to them.”
