Recording Academy To Honor Kirk Franklin With Black Music Icon Award
KIRK FRANKLIN will be honored with the BLACK MUSIC ICON AWARD at the fourth annual RECORDING ACADEMY HONORS, presented by the BLACK MUSIC COLLECTIVE. The event will take place on THURSDAY JANUARY 30th at the FAIRMONT CENTURY PLAZA in LOS ANGELES.
The award recognizes Black music creators whose dedication to their craft has significantly shaped the industry and whose legacy of service inspires people worldwide.
RECORDING ACADEMY CEO HARVEY MASON JR. said, “KIRK has not only revolutionized gospel music but has also bridged the gap between genres, redefining the possibilities of musical expression and inspiring generations with his message of hope and faith.”

FRANKLIN has won 20 GRAMMY AWARDS since 1997, including collaborations with MAVERICK CITY MUSIC and TORI KELLY. His accolades also include 23 GMA DOVE AWARDS, 23 STELLAR AWARDS, an AMERICAN MUSIC AWARD, and a SOUL TRAIN MUSIC AWARD.
