R&B Singer/Songwriter Frankie Beverly Has Died At 77
MAZE lead Singer/Songwriter FRANKIE BEVERLY died on TUESDAY (9/10) at the age of 77. The following statement was posted by the BEVERLY family on social media.”

“During this time, as we are navigating feelings of sorrow, reflection, and remembrance we kindly ask for privacy and understanding, allowing us the space to grieve in our own way.”

“He lived his life with pure soul as one would say, and for us, no one did it better.”

BEVERLY began his music journey as a church soloist while growing up in the EAST GERMANTOWN neighborhood in PHILADELPHIA.
While in his teens he sang with THE SILHOUETTES before forming his own doo-wop group, THE BLENDERS. It is said that BEVERLY adopted the first name FRANKIE in tribute to FRANKIE LYMON, the lead singer of FRANKIE LYMON AND THE TEENAGERS.
In 1970, BEVERLY founded RAW SOUL which eventually became MAZE. The R&B group caught the attention of MARVIN GAYE, who invited them to join his tour as the opening act
That led the way to years of R&B hits: “Joy and Pain,” “Golden Time of Day,” “We Are One,” “Happy Feelin’s” and “Before I Let Go.” During the summer, FRANKIE BEVERLY & MAZE often performed concerts across the country.”
