WPGC (95.5)/WASHINGTON, DC PD ANGELIQUE ALSTON has exited as part of the recent AUDACY nationwide layoffs.

She shared on social media, “When it comes to radio, everyone has a last day, and mine was on THURSDAY 3/6. I was ‘laid off’ along with 300 others under the recent AUDACY CORP restructuring.”

“Being the FIRST woman to hold the position of Program Director at WPGC is something I’ll always cherish, and the irony that my PGC story ends during WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH is not lost on me. I was elevated by our Market Manager IVY SAVOY SMITH, the first woman and the first African American to hold the position for our cluster. We both made history together, and that I will always be proud of.”

“As a native WASHINGTONIAN and a product of PG, it was an honor to program WPGC. During my tenure, I had the privilege of launching innovative programming, campaigns and promotions, handpicking, coaching, and elevating talented on-air personalities, and creating and producing unforgettable events.”

“We broke new music, supported local music and the arts, and ensured our programming remained live and local, all while amplifying the voices of the DMV.”

“We were a champion for our community, serving as a voice on issues that mattered most—whether it was addressing crime, supporting COVID relief efforts, or amplifying local causes. It was always my mission to make sure our community had a platform, and that we were there when they needed us.”

“I had my share of tough moments. However, those challenges made me more resilient, determined to push forward, innovate, and serve our community. I’m proud of all we’ve accomplished, and I couldn’t have done it without the amazingly talented, creative, resourceful and dedicated people around me.”

“TO MY INCREDIBLE PGC TEAM (past and present), sincere gratitude for your unwavering support, memories and the WINS! Please move with INTEGRITY, keep shining and continue doing great radio.”

“And thank you to my incredible industry colleagues and community partners. Your support, collaboration, and dedication helped make everything we accomplished possible.”

“I joyously anticipate what’s to come. Here’s to WPGC – The DNA of the DMV!”
