Questlove’s Sly Stone Documentary ‘Sly Lives!’ Set To Premiere On Hulu
GRAMMY/OSCAR winner AHMIR “QUESTLOVE” THOMPSON has directed a documentary on SLY & THE FAMILY STONE founder SLY STONE, titled SLY Lives! AKA The Burden of Black Genius.
The film is the story of how young gospel singer SLY STEWART became one of the most influential R&B and Rock artists of the 60s. He was known for blending Funk, Psychedelic, and Rock.
It made its world premiere at the SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL ON JANUARY 23rd. HULU will begin streaming the documentary on FEBRUARY 13th.
QUESTLOVE, drummer for THE ROOTS and Bandleader for THE TONIGHT SHOW, won an OSCAR in 2022 for SUMMER OF SOUL. Recently he co-produced the three-hour documentary “Ladies & Gentlemen… 50 Years of SNL Music.” It highlights the musical guests and music comedy sketches featured on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE over the past five decades.
