Living Legends Foundation Completes 12th Annual Golf Scholarship Fundraiser For Students
The LIVING LEGENDS FOUNDATION (LLF) recently (4/19) returned to the greens for its 12th A.D. WASHINGTON GOLF TOURNAMENT at CRYSTAL LAKE GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB in the ATLANTA METRO.
The annual event raised funds for the LLF SCHOLARSHIP FUND, supporting Black students at both HBCUs and PWIs pursuing behind the scenes careers in marketing, communications, distribution, and music.
Golfers from across the country participated in various contests including the $100,000 Shootout, the Longest Drive, Closest To The Pin, the AURELIUS DIXON Challenge, the PGA SUPERSTORE Hole-In-One $1,000 Shopping Spree, the DIXON FIESTA BOWL Hole-In-One, and a Putting Contest with the Grand Prize being a trip to SUPER BOWL LX In 2026.
ATLANTA’s WVEE (V-103) PM drive Personality GREG STREET was this year’s Honorary Chair. He presented awards to the winning teams –the Flight 1 team featured LUKE POPO, JEREMIE PETERKIN, ARNOLD COLE, and KEN WILLIAMS.
The Flight 2 team winners were ADRIAN EVELYN, BRUCE DEMPS, VAN JAKES, and MELVIN PHILLIPS. KEN WILLIAMS won the Men’s LONGEST DRIVE contest, while RACHEL REYNOLDS took the Women’s title. BRUCE DEMPS claimed Men’s Closest To THE PIN, with BRITTANY CHRISTIAN winning for the Women.
LLF awarded scholarships for FALL 2024 to JAZZMIN DUNCAN (POMONA COLLEGE), JORDYN ISAACS (HAMPTON UNIVERSITY), CHEYENNE DEGROSS (GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY), TIMOTHY TAYLOR (CLARK ATLANTA UNIVERSITY), and MAXX SHEAROD (YALE UNIVERSITY).
LLF Board Member/Scholarship Committee Chair SHANNON A. HENDERSON said, “Serving as the Scholarship Committee Chairperson for the LIVING LEGENDS FOUNDATION is a profound honor. It’s about more than just awarding funds –it’s about igniting dreams and empowering the next generation of leaders in the music industry. We’re not just supporting education –we’re investing in legacies.”
Scholarship recipient CHEYENNE DEGROSS, a Junior at GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY, commented, “This weekend’s tournament was a testament to inspiring and empowering future generations. This experience has encouraged me to continue to work hard and grow in my crafts.”
LLF Golf Committee Chair SAM WEAVER added, “We want to thank over 100 participants that included 80 golfers, vendors, sponsors, volunteers, LLF golf committee, DIXON GOLF, and the staff at CRYSTAL LAKE GOLF CLUB for helping to make our event a success.”
