Tito Jackson (1953-2024)

TITO JACKSON of THE JACKSON 5 has died at 70 while driving from NEW MEXICO to OKLAHOMA. Family friend and former manager of THE JACKSONS, STEVE MANNING, confirmed that a heart attack was the cause.

His three sons broke the news on INSTAGRAM:

“It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAMER TITO JACKSON is no longer with us. We are shocked, saddened, and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being. Some of you may know him as TITO JACKSON from the legendary JACKSON 5, some may know him as ‘Coach TITO,’ or some know him as ‘POPPA T.’ Nevertheless, he will be missed tremendously. It will forever be ‘TITO Time’ for us. Please remember to do what our father always preached and that is ‘Love One Another.’ We love you Pops.”

Your boys,
TAJ, TARYLL & TJ

TITO, born TORIANO ADARYLL JACKSON on OCTOBER 15, 1953, in GARY, INDIANA, was the third oldest of the JACKSON children. He and his brothers formed THE JACKSON 5 in the 1960s, with TITO serving as lead guitarist.

In 1975, THE JACKSON 5 changed the group’s name to THE JACKSONS after leaving MOTOWN RECORDS.  TITO also pursued a solo career, releasing albums and collaborating with various artists. He was inducted into the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME in 1997 as a member of THE JACKSON 5.
