Former VP/GM Verna Green Honored In Detroit
Former VP/GM VERA GREEN was honored with an afternoon of celebration. Former staff members from WJLB FM 98 and WMXD MIX 92.3 organized a special tribute, to salute her as “A Pioneer of 80s and 90s DETROIT Radio.” The event took place on SUNDAY AUGUST 4th at the WAYNE COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT’s Northwest campus.
Those in attendance included MICHAEL SAUNDERS, TONY GRAY, JANET G, STEVE HEGWOOD, BUSHMAN, FRANKIE DARCELL, and pretty much everybody from her old staffs, including the former owner of the station JOHN BOOTH (BOOTH BROADCASTING.)
GREEN told SAM WEAVER, “I was overwhelmed seeing all these people from 25 years ago like it was just yesterday. It was as if time had not passed. I’m just now coming down from it. So many of my old sales staff were there, I even saw a few people from the record industry, like LARKIN ARNOLD.”
“There were so many people that I didn’t get a chance to spend time with or as many as I wanted to. SAM, I just couldn’t believe it, I was just so blown away by it. I want to thank everyone involved with the planning and all those who took the time out of their lives to come and be a part of this.”
