Core Radio Group Brings Streetz 100.3 To New Orleans
CORE RADIO GROUP/NEW ORLEANS, LLC has introduced its Hip-Hop & R&B brand KLRZ (STREETZ 100.3) on COASTAL BROADCASTING’s former ESPN affiliate dial position. The STEETZ has been launched under a Time Brokerage Agreement with COASTAL.
The station will feature YOUNG JOC and THE STREETZ MORNING TAKEOVER with MZ. SHYNEKA & SHAWTY SHAWTY. The show is syndicated nationally by SUPERADIO NETWORKS. The station debuted with 5,000 songs in a row, commercial-free with a chance for listeners to win $5000 Cash.
The Agreement with COASTAL BROADCASTING includes a $10,000 monthly LMA fee, which will go toward the station’s acquisition cost should CORE COMMUNICATORS exercise its option to purchase. The FCC currently has the agreement on file. The CORE RADIO GROUP already operates multiple stations under the STREETZ brand in ATLANTA, CHARLOTTE, CHICAGO, and NORFOLK.
This launch marks a return to the NEW ORLEANS for STEVE HEGWOOD. His former station, TOP COMMUNICATIONS’ Hip-Hop KNOU (HOT 104.5)/NEW ORLEANS, was destroyed by HURRICANE KATRINA in 2005, leading the company to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2006.
HEGWOOD said, “NEW ORLEANS is the most unique city in AMERICA, and we felt that it deserved more than One Hip Hop and R&B station dedicated to the culture. The STREETZ Brand is more than just music. It’s a true lifestyle, on air, through Social Media and in the community, serving Listeners and Advertisers.”
