Charlamagne stays busy

PREMIERE NETWORKS syndicated co-host CHARLAMAGNE of the BREAKFAST CLUB and the BRILLIANT IDIOTS podcast, has entered the publishing world with a graphic novel deal with ARTISTS, WRITERS, AND ARTISANS, reported VARIETY.

The novel, titled ILLUMINATI, will be released this FALL and will explore the death of a young female Hip-Hop star, along with her psychic twin sister who seeks answers in LOS ANGELES.

CHARLAMAGNE (LENARD MCKELVEY) is very hands-on in shaping the creative aspects of this project. The novel features a Hip-Hop sensibility in terms of authenticity, creativity, social consciousness, and a reflection of urban life.  It includes five custom covers paying tribute to classic Hip-Hop albums.

ARTISTS, WRITERS, AND ARTISANS CEO AXEL ALONSO said, “There’s a huge multicultural audience for comic books. They love the characters, the mythology, and want to see themselves reflected in the pages.”

CHARLAMAGNE added, “I’ve always been a huge fan of comic books. You can hear it referenced in many hip-hop records, especially from groups like WU-TANG. We’re also playing into rumors of the ILLUMINATI in the music industry.”

“In TODAY’s digital world, platforms like YOUTUBE, KICKSTARTER, and social media allow creators to connect with their audience directly.”

“Better yet, you can build it and you can just meet people where they are.”

The novel will be supported by a KICKSTARTER campaign aimed at funding the project and engaging with fans.
