He Will Be Missed

ATLANTA-based Rapper/Producer DJ UNK (ANTHONY LEONARD PLATT passed away on FRIDAY, JANUARY 24th, at age 43. His wife, SHERKITA LONG-PLATT, confirmed to TMZ that he died in his sleep from cardiac arrest. DJ UNK had a history of health concerns, including a heart attack in 2009.

DJ UNK gained national attention in the 2000s with “Walk It Out” and “2 Step.” A a candlelight vigil was held for him on SUNDAY (1/26) at ATLANTA’s CENTRAL PARK.  

BIG OOMP RECORDS posted on INSTAGRAM, “It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we announce the passing of a true ATL legend, ANTHONY PLATT, better known as ‘DJ UNK.’ On behalf of BIG OOMP RECORDS and the BOR Family, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the countless fans who were touched by his artistry and spirit.”

“DJ UNK was not just a legendary DJ, Rapper, and Producer, but a true cornerstone of our label. The imprint he left globally will be cherished forever. His energy, creativity, and commitment to the craft will never be forgotten.
