Angie Martinez To Make Directorial Debut Featuring Hip-Hop

ANGIE MARTINEZ, RADIO HALL OF FAME inductee/iHEARTMEDIA PM drive personality on WWPR (POWER 105.1)/NEW YORK, will make her Directorial debut with a feature-length documentary focused on Hip-Hop legend DJ CLARK KENT.
The documentary, “GOD’S FAVORITE DJ: THE STORY OF DJ CLARK KENT,” is being co-produced by GREEN LEAF PRODUCTIONS and MARK SPARKS PRODUCTIONS. The film will include appearances from big named Hip-Hop artists such as JAY-Z, QUESTLOVE, DJ KHALED, and others.
MARTINEZ told THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER (First to break the story), “DJ CLARK KENT is a rare gem whose influence is seen in nearly every era of Hip-Hop’s history books. With our 50-year-old culture susceptible to outside perspectives and agendas, it’s important that we spotlight the heroes who push the art form with purity and authenticity. I am honored to help share CLARK’s many truths with the world.”
CLARK KENT’s production credits include JAY-Z’s “BROOKLYN’S FINEST,” THE NOTORIOUS B.I.G.’s “SKY’S THE LIMIT,” JUNIOR M.A.F.I.A.’s “PLAYER’S ANTHEM,” MARIAH CAREY’s “LOVERBOY,” and KANYE WEST and LIL PUMP’s “I LOVE IT.” He has also worked with SLICK RICK, RAKIM, RICK ROSS, and others.

Last year (2023), MARTINEZ was host/Exec. Producer for the one-hour special “HIP-HOP @ 50: RHYTHMS, RHYMES & REFLECTIONS – A SOUL OF A NATION PRESENTATION.” It aired as part of ABC NEWS STUDIOS’ EMMY-winning series “SOUL OF A NATION.” The special celebrated JUNETEENTH, BLACK MUSIC MONTH, and the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop.
