Coaches Corner by Sam Weaver
Here’s My Executive Order …
A friend recently reminded me of something we all need to remember, “sometimes we forget who we are.” It was a reminder that we don’t always see ourselves as others might.
How It Started…
The conversation began with a text. A friend texted me about a guy who wanted to get my Music/Radio Newsletter e-mail and Coaches Corner column. During their conversation, my friend mentioned my name, and the guy lit up. He asked, “Do you know him?” My friend said yes, and the guy started talking about my broadcasting career and things I’ve done.
A Simple Reminder…
I was curious, so I called my friend. He explained why the guy knew so much about me. “You’ve been part of the landscape for a long time. How could he not know who you are?” Then it hit me. Sometimes, we don’t realize the impact we’ve had on others or how they see us.
Why This Matters…
This isn’t about bragging. It’s about recognizing your place. If you’ve been in radio, or any industry for a while, people know you if your successes have been documented. In an industry like radio, where connections and relationships are everything, recognizing your influence can strengthen those bonds. Your work leaves a mark. Someone out there values your insights, respects your journey, and sees you as a role model.
Just Realize…
Take a moment to reflect. The work you’ve done matters. Whether you’ve written, mentored, or simply shown up every day, you’ve made an impact. Even if it doesn’t feel like it, people are watching, learning, and being inspired by you.
Keep Moving Forward…
Don’t sell yourself short. Your journey could be the inspiration someone else needs. Realize who you are, keep pushing forward, and continue being you –because someone out there is taking notes.
