Charlamange is building a business empire

CHARLAMAGNE THA GOD and his wife, JESSICA GADSDEN MCKELVEY, have partnered with ATLANTA-based restaurant chain KRYSTAL and opened multiple franchises in SOUTH CAROLINA. The ORANGEBURG, SC location will hold its grand opening on DECEMBER 20th.

CHARLAMAGNE told AFROTECH, “2 CHAINZ became the creative director of KRYSTAL [Restaurants], so I started paying attention to what they were doing. Then, I reached out to 2 CHAINZ, and he plugged me in with the right people. I talked to my team about it. My team was like, ‘This is a great opportunity.’ So me, and my wife decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on six of them.”

In a press release, CHARLAMAGNE said, “ORANGEBURG is special to us because it’s the home of SOUTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY, my mother’s alma mater, while my wife’s father is an alumnus of CLAFLIN UNIVERSITY.”

“I also have an honorary degree from SCSU, where I established the FORD FAMILY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUND, so it’s a blessing to continue this mission of providing opportunities and jobs to SOUTH CAROLINIANS.”

“It’s always an amazing feeling to come back and give back. I hope the community will enjoy my favorite eats from KRYSTAL for years to come.”
