Nielsen Updates Rewards For PPM Panelists & Diary Keepers
NIELSEN has started making changes to how it rewards people who participate as PPM panelists and Diary keepers for radio and TV. For years, panelists received gift cards, points, games, birthday bonuses, and in some cases, gift catalogs for children. These rewards were meant to keep participants active and engaged.
NIELSEN has indicated to clients the goal is to create a “more modern, engaging and productive panelist experience,” based on industry research. The company plans to track performance even closer, including participation levels and sample quality. NIELSEN also says it’s ready to fix anything that doesn’t work.
This is one of several changes they are making in 2025. For radio, one major update has already taken effect, reducing the listening time needed to earn quarter-hour credit from five minutes to three. As a result, audience numbers have increased, especially in mornings, middays, afternoons, and weekends.
