Nielsen Makes Some Adjustments
NIELSEN has announced two updates ahead of the FALL 2024 Diary survey and the OCTOBER 2024 PPM reporting period, which began on 9/12.
For FALL/OCTOBER 2024, NIELSEN will use updated population estimates based on the 2020 CENSUS and projected to JANUARY 1, 2025. These updates will include county populations by age, sex, race, and Hispanic origin. In PPM, Full-Time Employment of Persons 18+ and Persons in Households with children will also be updated.
ZIP CODE populations by ethnic composition have been updated for both PPM and Diary services. NIELSEN uses these ZIP CODE estimates to define CONNECTICUT counties, geographically split counties, and counties that qualify for Black and/or Hispanic differential survey treatment in certain Metros.
The FALL 2024 AUDIO RED BOOK, available on the NIELSEN Portal, provides ranks for all 243 Radio Metros. Market ranks may change due to the start, redefinition, or cancellation of markets, but there are no new market changes for the FALL 2024 survey period.
Finally, NIELSEN will update ethnic SDS (Sample Design Survey) reporting in PPM and Diary Markets beginning in the FALL/OCTOBER 2024 survey period. One PPM Metro will add a Hispanic SDS, 7 Diary Markets will add a Hispanic SDS, and 5 Diary Markets will add a Black SDS. This means refining the sample design to potentially do a better job of capturing data from specific demographic groups
