iHEARTMEDIA/BIN: BLACK INFORMATION NETWORK has launched “LOCK IT AND STORE IT! A gun safety Awareness Campaign stressing the importance of keeping guns away from children. The initiative will feature special reports, news stories, and social media content about unintentional shootings involving Black children in AMERICA.

The Network created The BIN LOCAL ROUNDTABLE to address community issues. It’s a forum for business and civic leaders from U.S. communities can share views and work with BIN’s leadership team on programming and community engagement. The GUN VIOLENCE ARCHIVE recently reported that in 2023 there were over 1,500 unintentional shootings in the U.S., many involving Black teens and young children.

iHEARTMEDIA/BIN Pres./Multicultural Business & Development TONY COLES said, “This campaign is a shining example of the role community leaders play in the programming on the BLACK INFORMATION NETWORK. Keeping children and families safe is vital to the communities we serve.”

Former DETROIT Deputy Police Chief/BIN LOCAL ROUNDTABLE member BRENDA GOSS ANDREWS commented, “Everyone has a responsibility to secure their guns and prevent unintentional shootings in our community. We are losing too many children and adolescents to unsafe gun storage.”
